What’s Holding You Back from Having Success with Your Weight Loss Program?

Weight Loss Program Not Working?

Well, it’s the beginning of January and we all know what that means! Resolutions! Goals! Credit Card Bills!! (okay that last one has nothing to do with weight loss, but it’s kinda true eh).  Christmas packs a punch in more ways than one, and not just around the waistline either.

One thing that I firmly believe is the fact that a good weight loss program is not random.  If you’re going to have any measure of success with shedding those pounds for the long haul, you have got to have a solid plan in place. Sure, counting calories is good, and working out is fantastic, but I believe that there is more to it than that.  One of the first things we must do when we develop our own weight loss program is find out what is holding us back. What factors are contributing to your inability to get the workouts in.  What is the driving force behind your destructive eating?  What prevents you from pushing really hard during your workout, and what stops you from working out every single day?  Good questions eh.

There are a few things to keep in mind here.  For starters, I can’t answer those questions for you because I don’t know you.  The things that hold me back aren’t the same challenges you’re facing.  We’re all different.  As well, if you’re going to have long term success, you have to be REAL with yourself.  Honest.  The buck stops here, my friends, and if you’re going to achieve the results you really want, you have to stop pussy footing around the issues and be honest with yourself.

weight loss programAll too often we blame our busy schedules with our failure with our weight loss program.  We just can’t find enough time in the day.  I get that.  I’m busy too.  But here’s the deal.  Getting fit doesn’t have to take a lot of time out of your day.  My weight loss program that I’m currently working on is only 30 minutes/day.  Thirty minutes!!  That’s it!  And the thing of it is, often, when we really sit down and think about it, there may be other issues behind that “too busy” excuse that we’re not facing.  For example, maybe you’ve always seen yourself as the chubby failure who never succeeded. Maybe you’ve convinced yourself you’ll fail before you even start.  Maybe you haven’t owned up to the fact that getting fit is going to take a bit of elbow grease and you haven’t wrapped your head around the fact that you need to change your mindset and behavior.  There are a MILLION other factors that could be contributing to your lack of success–so the FIRST thing you need to do is sit down, find them, and face them.  It might not be fun or pretty, but it needs to be done.  I’m going to talk about this issue in more detail in future blogs, but for now, I just want to get you thinking about it.

What is holding you back with your weight loss program?

Here is a video that I made that talks about this in more details, with a few more examples of things that can hold people back from having success with their weight loss program.  Take a look:

So remember, regardless of where you are on your fitness journey, or how much weight you have to lose, it is possible to have success.  In order to achieve the results that you want with your weight loss program it is crucial that you take some time to be real with yourself  and identify what is truly holding you back.

We have lots to talk about!
Cheers to creating your own destiny!
