Learn How to Empower Yourself & Make Money from Home

Taking the First Step to Creating Your Own Destiny

If you could be whatever you wanted, who would you be?

If you could do whatever you wanted, what would you do?

I think sometimes, those questions get lost in the hustle and bustle of everyday life.  We get so busy scrounging for money to put our kids in hockey camp and making sure Little Suzie has cookies for the bake sale that over time, we start to forget about our own needs and wants.  They get set on the back burner, start to collect dust, and before you know it, they don’t even exist anymore.

And such is the life of a mother.

As we get older it is easy to get tied to the fact that our destiny, our choices belong to someone else.  We have to put food on the table so we work. We might not totally enjoy our job, but it pays the bills and that’s all that counts.  Little Johnny is going to need braces in a few years and Little Missy needs new dance shoes.  So we go to work and get it done.

And as Mothers, we’re used to giving things up.  As soon as baby is conceived we give up our bodies, our bladders and our boobs.  We become milk machines and work for the greater good of the family.

Over time we forget that our paths are still, essentially our own.  Yes, we are happy, but we forget.

And then when something happens, or when we decide that we need to make changes, we’re not entirely sure how to go about it–because up until now, things have already been decided for us, to some degree. We no longer feel like we’re in the driver’s seat.

Take me for example.

empower yourselfI had my boy 8 years ago.  He is the light of my life and my best best friend.  When he was born I gave up a promising career, a thriving university education, my physique, a social life….you get the point.  Life settled in for me as a mother, and I got used to that.

After a few years however, something happened in our life that made it impossible for us to send my boy to daycare. I won’t get into the nitty gritty here, but I will say that although it wasn’t a huge crisis, it did mean that I wouldn’t be returning to work as early as I had planned.  Looking back on it now, I’m glad I did stay home with my boy, as the memories we created together are something that I will cherish forever.

I began to worry, however.  How could I bring in some money for the family if I couldn’t go to work?  And who would hire me in 5 years time after being out of the work force for so long?  I had been a teacher before and wasn’t especially interested in going back into public education, so what would I do?  Who would hire me with my current set of skills?  No one.  That is what I feared.  And if I didn’t have the right skills, how would I get them, at home, with no job?

Yes, I was worried.

I needed to empower myself

We get so used to depending on other people to decide what our futures will be that we forget that we can be the ones who determine it.  We get so used to thinking that we need other people to hand us our opportunities that we fail to realize that we can create those opportunities ourselves!

And that, my friends is what I realized.  I knew that no one was going to just call me up and offer me a job and and I knew that if I wanted to develop new skills I needed to do it myself.

So I got to work.

empowerInstead of watching tv at night I started poking around the internet and started reading books. I watched YouTube videos and I subscribed to any free training I could find.  I followed people who were successful and I emailed them with my questions.  And gradually, I began to add one new skill after another to my repertoire. Before I knew it, I had a whole host of new things that I could do!  AND I was making money! I began to feel like I could empower myself.

When I talked to my friends about what I was doing they often said, “Oh, but you’re so good at that stuff.  I could never do that.”

And my reply to that is simple.  If I can do it, so can you.  I often laugh when people ask me how I learned all of this stuff, because I jokingly tell them that I went to The University of YouTube.  If you want to learn how to do something, you can generally learn it on YouTube!

So my lesson for you is this:  If you are in a position right now where you want to learn how to make money from home, you can absolutely do it.  If you want to empower yourself and make your life better–you can do it!

You NEVER need to wait for someone out there to hand you an opportunity.  With the power of the internet and social media, you can market yourself right from the comfort of your own home. You don’t need to spend a fortune on a web developer either.  Nowadays there are tools and technology that make it so you can create your own website, store etc. all by yourself.  And it isn’t that hard.

I can show you how to do it.  I can give you the tools to empower yourself.

I will teach you things like:

  • Why it’s important to run a business from home if you don’t have a traditional job.
  • Ways you can bring in additional income.
  • How to set up a WordPress blog yourself.
  • How to set up a YouTube Channel.
  • How to attract qualified leads to your business.
  • How to create and manage a successful Facebook page.
  • How to create and offer your own training for clients.
  • And much much more!

Stick with me and over the next blog posts I will share a number of lessons about how to empower yourself and learn how to work from home.

If you found value in this post about how to empower yourself I would LOVE it if you shared and left a comment!

Cheers to your success!
